Employees

I am a teacher, teaching assistant or volunteer looking for a new position. How can Teachers Unlimited help me?

Teachers Unlimited offers you the ability to search vacancies that education institutions from around the world have advertised on our website.

You can also advertise your availability, allowing teaching institutions to view your details.

If I contact a school from outside my own country about a vacancy, whose responsibility is it to get me a visa?

Education institutions may, at their own discretion, assist and/or advise you directly, if necessary, with information about employment or volunteering in their country, travel, visa requirements or any teacher registration or qualification requirements, however their assistance is not compulsory. It is your responsibility to obtain any visas that may be necessary. Teachers and volunteers are advised to contact the consulate or embassy of the country/countries they wish to work in, to obtain specific information about what visas may be required, their cost, if any, and the length of time they may be permitted to work/volunteer in that country/countries.

Will I be able to accept teaching positions in every country in the world?

No, some countries have little or no legal flexibility in relation to international staff placement, while other countries have a long experience in legally recruiting staff from other countries. Teachers and volunteers are advised to contact the consulate or embassy of the country/countries they wish to work in, to obtain specific information about what visas may be required, their cost, if any, and the length of time they may be permitted to work/volunteer in that country/countries.

Will my current school know if I advertise my availability for a new position - or a promotion position - on the Teachers Unlimited website?

Not unless you deliberately include sufficient information that will personally identify you. Teachers and volunteers who wish to advertise their availability more privately are permitted to use their first name only (not their family name) on the website and, if privacy is a concern, are advised to use a personal email address (e.g. Yahoo or Hotmail) rather than a school email address.

Employers

I represent an education institution with staff vacancies. How can Teachers Unlimited help me?

Teachers Unlimited offers two services that can help you. Our advertise vacancy service allows you to list your the details of your vacancy on our directory, allowing teaching staff from around the world to see your vacancy.

We also offer you the ability to search for candidates in our list of teaching staff who have advertised their availability.

Both services allow you to specify whether you are searching for a paid employee or volunteer.

I have several vacancies to advertise at once. Is there a way I can do this quickly?

The website provides you with the facility to copy an existing advertisement and then change a few values. To do this:

  1. Advertise your first position by selecting [Employers | Advertise vacancy] from the menu at the top of the site
  2. Select [Employers | My vacancies] from the top menu.
  3. Click Copy beside the advertisement you wish to copy. The "advertise vacancy" form will be shown, filled with the details of the advertisement you have copied. You can change the details to match the new position (the advertisement that you copied will not be affected)

If I contact a person from outside my own country about a vacancy at my school, whose responsibility is it to get that person a visa, if they are the successful applicant?

Education institutions may, at their own discretion, assist and/or advise individuals directly, if necessary, with information about employment or volunteering in their country, travel, visa requirements or any teacher registration or qualification requirements, however this assistance is not compulsory. Schools, colleges and universities are urged to contact the immigration department in their own country to obtain specific information about what visas are required by prospective teachers from other countries (this will vary with the nationality of the prospective teacher or volunteer).

Who checks the character and qualifications of teachers and volunteers who advertise their availability on Teachers Unlimited?

Teachers Unlimited is not a managed recruitment service and cannot advise education institutions or individuals on any issue relating to teaching qualifications, teacher registration requirements, character or personal suitability. An advertisement on Teachers Unlimited does not imply endorsement of the personal or academic suitability of any individual or education institution. Individual schools, colleges and universities must carry out such thorough checks as they deem to be necessary and are urged to seek specific advice from teacher registration bodies in their own country.

Will my school be able to accept teachers and volunteers from every country in the world?

No, some countries have little or no legal flexibility in relation to international staff placement, while other countries have a long experience in legally recruiting staff from other countries. Schools, colleges and universities are advised to seek specific advice from the immigration department in their own country.

Can Teachers Unlimited 100% guarantee the accuracy of advertisements published on its website?

No, Teachers Unlimited cannot guarantee, or take any responsibility for, the accuracy or otherwise of any information contained in the advertisements on this website.
